Cuti Esther ini,aku tidak bercadang ke mana2.

Tapi housemet aku mengajak berjalan2 di sekitar Dublin.

So kitorg naik costal tour bas, menikmati permandangan costal side of dublin untuk ke powerscourt.

Sebagai umat Islam, kita sepatutnya tidak terlibat dalam budaya-budaya meng'fool' orang lain pada tarikh 1st April.

Aku memang tidak pernah nak terlibat dalam budaya2 fool ini

Tetapi, berada di bumi Western ini, kekadang kita kena ambil tahu juga dengan budaya dan perayaan masyarakat yang kita menumpang.

Sebagai contohnya pada tarikh 1st April.

2 tahun aku terkena.

1st April 2008:
Dalam ketika aku berjalan ke perhatian bas untuk menunggu bas ke UCD, seperti kebiasaannya aku akan melintasi seorang kakak Herald Am dan seorang Abang cute Metro. Herald Am dan Metro merupakan newspaper free yang diberi kepada orang ramai. Pada hari itu, tajuk besar Metro/Herald Am (aku dah terlupa yang mana) adalah Spire (rujuk gambar diatas) telah dipindah ke Las Vegas disebabkan kononnya kewujudan Spire di Northern part of Dublin telah menjadi ketidakpuasan hati penduduk dublin yang berada di Southern dublin (dublin dibahagiakan kepada north and south oleh river liffey and Spire terletak di north.) The news was really convincing ok. dengan dia letak gambar under construction dekat tmpat spire tu dan letak jugak gambar spire yang kononnya dah berada di Las Vegas!(superimposed obviously!). Sampai 3 hari aku percaya. Yela aku naik bas tak lalu spire. Sampai la 3rd April, Lala bitau, ko tau tak surat khabar sekiansekian buat april fool pasal spire?..Aku yang dengar tu,shoot,'Ko tau tak lala,aku baru tau tu April Foolllll!!!...Serious la diorang punya lawak April Fool. Aku rasa editor suratkhabar tu mesti berdekah2 ketawa atas kerusi.

1st April 2009
Seminggu sebelum tu, aku dah sangap sgt sebab xde cuti.(sebelum ni UCD penuh dengan cuti2,huhu). So aku tanyakan Lala, "Lala, April Fool xde cuti ke?".Lala: Ko ingat hari buruh ke nak cuti?..hahah..
Minggu tu aku rotation, xde nak aware sangat pasal April Fool sebab bukan budaya kita pun,so who cares??. Seperti biasa, slepas habis rota pada hari tu, aku segera bergegas ke bilik locker utk salin kepada kot n balik. Sampai di bilik locker, ada satu notis mengatakan clinical 1 students(kami2 la tu) kena pakai satu Plat L dekat white coat sebab medical staffs and nurses tak dapat bezakan antara student baru dan medical staffs. Dan dalam notis tu jugak dikatakan Plat L tu boleh didapati drpd Dr Sinead, kitorg punya Coordinator. So dalam hati xapalah, lepas pakai coat aku nak prgila bilik Dr Sinead. Tapi aku kira Tuhan xnak aku malukan diri( huhuh). Dalam dok berkemas2 tu, Maz n Fifah masuk. Fifah bising2,"siot arr final Med, buat April Fool. Malu aku". Aku tanya apasal. Maz cakap la yang diorang ni pergi bilik Sinead n mintak Plat L tu. Lepas tu Sinead senyum2 cakap, "Do you know what date is today?" Maz dengan innocntnya jawab 1st April. Maz cakap 'Aku ingatkan dah lambat nak dptkan Plat tu,tu yang dia tanya tarikh'..huhu..then bila tengok Maz blur2, dia tanya lagi "what time is it now?" Maz jawab 1 0'oclock. Sinead balas "ok,the joke is over". Pastu baru diorang tersedar yang diorang dah terkena April Fool dengan bebudak Final Med..Hahah..aku gelak jer la..Siot tul final med,dah la nak exam final lagi 2 weeks, sempat lagi nak buat durjana..Tapi, nasib baik jugak la bukan aku yang terpilih untuk memalukan diri depan Sinead..hehe..

Itula, sian kat kami budak2 melayu yang innocent ni..jadi mangsa budaya fool bebudak nih..huhu..sabor je laa.

My first week hospital life

One week at hospital..

A stir of emotions.

I would say that it is really tortuous.

No more straight forward learning, spoon fed,lazy wazzy.

First day in Mater, they just assigned us under blablabla team, provided with the intern number to bleep. That's all. We all supposed to bleep the intern, waiting for him/her to call back and arranged how to meet him/her.

My intern, when the first time I spoke to her,just asked me to come to St Cecilia ward. I thought that would be easy, just ask the receptionist and follow the signboard. But I thought wrong.

Didnt know that Mater has new and old buildings. It looked the same to me.So instead of going to St Cecilia ward which is in old building, I ended up searching the ward in new building. When I cant see 'st cecilia ward' on any of the signboard (obviously because it is the wrong building), I quickly presumed that I heard the name wrong (well Irish speak way toooo fast). I presumed it was St Teresa ward (because that is the name on the board, and it sounded quite the same too, with aa at the back,huhu). And I quickly dashed to the 4th floor, asked for Dr Collins. The receptionist, with frown forehead said she didnt know this Dr Collins. Shoot. And then I bleeped her again to really clarify things. Only then she explained that the ward is in the old building and I am now in new building.

Dashed down, rushed to the new building, asked for Dr Collins again. When I mention her name, the nurse repeated my sentence "where can I find Dr Collins?!". Weird.And they laughed. After that only then I know that the staffs there are not really familiar with Dr B.Collins surname( which is Collins).How should I know that??

Yeah,being the only medical student in the team is hmm quite unbearable sometimes. What you do is, just follow them around,for conferences,ward round,blabla. And after that, you are up to your own. Lucky me, on the fourth day, I had Tamara joined the team. She's a final meds from Hungary(She's actually an Iraqian living in Sweden,currently doing elective for surgery). We did a lot of things together, history taking, physical exams and including latte to go..hehe..and I learned a lot from her that day.

Well,forgot to mention, I am under Cardiothoracic Surgical team for this week. Sound fun rite. Yeap, after I learnd how things work, the dos and donts, what to expect, I found this rotation is quite interesting and I am looking forward for the next 2 weeks to continue with this rotation, because next week I've been scheduled for ENT.

So, Hola ENT~(I have this preconceived idea that ENT is not fun, boring,huhu,hope that ENT rota will prove me wrong!)

Ok.Im officially pissed offffff

Ade ke I've to redo the history taking OSCE because the so-called high tech video tape that was used during the osce couldnt be retrived even by the so-called UK technical experts..wt??
they cant assess us without the videoss(yes,im not the only one) because the recording of the interviews with our patients are the centre to the assessment.

This clinical 1 semester is so awfulllll..missing tutors,last minute lecture cancelation,disorganized exam week..adding to the list,this redoing OSCE..
